HIGHLANDS RANCH, Colorado (9/22/09) - The Mean Green
women's golf team fell nine shots off their first day score by firing a 317
Tuesday morning in the second round of the Ron Moore Intercollegiate.
Maggie Noel repeated her first round performance with
another 77 while Jana Golden was one shot back of her first round score with a
78. Jordan Rose (80), Addison Long (82) and Kelsey Kipp (82) rounded out the
second round scores for the Mean Green.
"It wasn't the day we had hoped for, but I still see a lot of positive signs," North Texas head coach Jeff Mitchell said. "It was another tough weather day and we kept our heads in the game even though we didn't strike the ball as well as yesterday. Tomorrow will be an important test. We have a chance to beat some pretty good teams with a solid final round. We just have to go out and work hard for every stroke."
The Mean Green (+49) currently stands in seventh place
heading into tomorrow's final round. The University of Denver (+9) continues to
lead the tournament in a runaway, followed by UC Davis (+23) and Baylor (+23).
