DENTON, Texas (9/3/09) - The North Texas softball team has announced its fall 2009 schedule, which includes eight home dates and two tournaments. The Mean Green plays a month-long fall schedule in preparation for the spring season.
North Texas opens its fall season with the third annual alumni game on Saturday, Sept. 19 at 6 p.m. Following a mid-week game against McClennan Community College, the Mean Green hosts the Fall Festival, an 11-team tournament played over two days (September 26 and 27) at Lovelace Stadium and Denia Park.
The Mean Green and nearby Texas Woman’s University will jointly host the University Classic at Lovelace Stadium and Pioneer Park on October 3 and 4th. NT will play at TWU on Saturday night at 7 pm and then return home to host Seminole State College on Sunday afternoon at 3 p.m. North Texas will round out its schedule with Wednesday night games against North Central Texas College, Grayson County College and Texarkana College.
North Texas returns 15 letterwinners, senior pitchers Ashley Lail and Kayla Lawson and all-conference players Mariza Martinez and Mallory Cantler. All the Mean Green home games are played at Lovelace Stadium in the Mean Green Village on the campus of the University of North Texas.
