Talley Wins 200-Meter Dash At Texas Tech Invitational

LUBBOCK, Texas (1/22/10) - Sophomore sprinter Keyth Talley tied a school record and took home first place in the 200-meter dash with a time of 21.27 on the first day of the Texas Tech Invitational.

The reigning Sun Belt Conference Performer of the Week edged out UT-Arlington's Cordero Gray (21.28) in the victory and tied former North Texas sprinter Brandon Irabor's record mark from 2006.

For a second straight week North Texas also got good results from transfer sprinter Brittany Blaylock. The junior from Texas Christian University placed third in the women's 200-meter dash with a time of 24.72, marking her first top-three finish as a member of the Mean Green.

The women also placed two more athletes in the top three in the field events. Freshman high jumper Suzy Prikryl finished second with a leap of 5-06.50 while senior Ashley Austin placed third in the long jump with a distance of 18-07.75.

North Texas will be back in action tomorrow at 10 a.m. beginning with field events while running begins at 11:30 a.m.
