MURFRESSBORO, Tennessee (10/23/09) - The Mean Green soccer team remained alone in first place in the Sun Belt Conference after battling the Middle Tennessee State to a 0-0 double-overtime draw Friday evening.

North Texas (11-4-2, 7-0-2) outshot the Blue Raiders 17-8 and 8-7 shots on goal but was unable to push a shot across in 110 minutes of play. The Mean Green defense was spectacular yet again, yielding only four shots in the second half and overtimes combined.

In recording her ninth shutout of the season, junior goalkeeper Mandy Hall tied Briana Buchanan for the most career shutouts in school history with 17. Hall collected six more saves on Friday night and played the entire contest.

Offensively Kelli Lunsford, Kelsey Perlman and Ellen Scarfone tied for the team-lead with three shots a piece.

"I really thought we had the game-winner off Kelsey's header with just a few minutes to play in regulation," North Texas head coach John Hedlund said. "Give credit to one of their field players for saving it off the goal line. Middle Tennessee is a good team and not a easy place to play so I'm proud of my team remaining unbeaten in league play."

Middle Tennessee goalkeeper Rebecca Cushing matched Hall's effort by stopping seven shots in the shutout.

The overtime contest was North Texas' third of the season. They are now 0-1-2 in extra frames and have been shutout four times in 2009.

Despite the tie the Mean Green still remained first in the conference standings ahead of FIU (7-1-1), Western Kentucky (7-2) and Denver (7-2).

North Texas will face another big test Sunday afternoon when they travel to Bowling Green, Kentucky to take on the Lady Toppers at 1 p.m. WKU is coming off a 2-0 loss at home to Denver.
