DENTON, Texas (8/24/09) - The North Texas Athletic Department and the women’s basketball team volunteered their time this past weekend to assist incoming freshmen and their families move into residence halls for Sunday Fun Day. Seventeen North Texas Athletic teams and support groups, jumped in to assist in a variety of ways but mostly by welcoming students and their families.

The North Texas athletic department participated in this university tradition to help make the transition process easier for new students. The women's basketball team helped move the newcomers into the Mozart Square residence hall.

The 12th annual “Sunday Fun Day” is a campus-wide event held on the first day (always a Sunday) students can move into their residence hall. Faculty, staff, and students volunteer in shifts to meet students and parents, help carry boxes or luggage into students' rooms, distribute room keys, and help fill-out forms.

Sunday Fun Day is an important event for the University, and just one other way in which the athletic program, its coaches, and its student athletes work to be partners and neighbors on our campus and give back to the University community.
