In the fifth inning, Katie Smith hit a ball deep to the gap in right centerfield and raced around the bases for an in-the-park homer to ULL ahead by 3-0. A long single by Brianna Cherry off reliever Ashley Kirk knocked in the other two runs off the inning.

North Texas scored its lone run in the seventh inning off an RBI single by Dani Hoff. The Mean Green loaded the bases with one out, Wallace recorded a strikeout and forced a foul out to end the threat.
