We are excited about your interest in the University of North Texas and Mean Green football. The North Texas football team has won four Sun Belt Conference championships and made four trips to the New Orleans Bowl.

Under head coach Dan McCarney, North Texas set the all-time total attendance record in school history in 2011.  McCarney himself recorded the most wins by a first-year head coach at North Texas since 1994 and the sixth most by a first-year head coach at North Texas.

Running back Lance Dunbar rushed for a single-game school record and Sun Belt Conference record 313 yards as he became the all-time leading rusher at North Texas. Dunbar also became just the sixth player in NCAA history with over 4,000 yards rushing and 1,000 yards receiving.

Cyril Lemon became just the second offensive lineman in Sun Belt Conference history to earn all-conference honors as a freshman.

Quick Hits On North Texas 

A member of the Sun Belt Conference, North Texas has captured 14 conference championships since 2001. Individually, 58 Mean Green student-athletes were named All-Sun Belt Conference during the 2010-11 school year. This past season, the Mean Green finished in the top three at conference championships in six sports, including three third-place finishes for the Mean Green track & field teams. The volleyball team won a share of the West Division title, while the men's basketball team advanced to the conference championship game for the second straight year.

In 2010-11, both golf teams saw postseason play. The men's and women's golf teams received at-large bids to the NCAA Regional Tournament after posting record-breaking seasons. The men finished in a tie for second at the conference tournament and finished in the top 5 in nine of their 10 regular season tournaments. The women finished fourth in the conference tournament and won four regular-season tournaments.

The men's basketball teams have won at least 20 games for five consecutive years, and the soccer program continued its winning tradition by posting its 16^th straight winning season in 2010. The swimming and diving team posted its third straight third-place finish at the conference tournament.

Please note that, per NCAA rules, coaches can only respond via e-mail to juniors (after September 1) and seniors in high school. Coaches must mail responses to freshmen and sophomores, per NCAA rules. You can call any North Texas coach, but they cannot return your phone call unless you are a senior in high school.

Facilities
North Texas will play in a brand-new stadium, the new football stadium at Mean Green Village, in the fall of 2010. The team trains on a new practice field, the Darrell R. Dickey Practice Facility, at the Mean Green Village, which also contains a locker room and a team lounge.

Academic Athletic Services
In the Fall of 2005, the academic and compliance staff relocated to the Mean Green Village. Located on Bonnie Brae, the new Student-Athlete Development Center is three times the size of the former academic center. The Center serves as the cornerstone of the Mean Green Village and is only a short walk from the surrounding sports facilities.
