DENTON, Texas (2/26/13) - No. 47 North Texas will host cross-town rival No. 20 TCU at the Waranch Tennis Complex Wednesday, Feb. 27 at 2 p.m. TCU will be the fourth ranked opponent for North Texas this season.
North Texas (6-1, 2-0) upset No. 30 Arizona on its way to winning its sixth-straight match last weekend in Denton.
Senior Valentina Starkova leads the Mean Green. Starkova has produced a 6-0 singles record while playing in the No. 3 spot. She defeated Arizona's Laura Oldham in straight sets, 6-3, 7-5. Starkova teamed up with Barbora Vykydalova to defeat Lacey Smyth and Shayne Austin in the No. 1 doubles slot, 8-2.
No. 20 TCU (6-1) is also coming off a victory over No. 30 Arizona. The Horned Frogs defeated the Wildcats in a six hour match, 4-3.
Admission to the match is free and free pizza will be provided at 3 p.m. for those in attendance. The North Texas tennis team will also host a free 30 minute youth clinic. Rackets will be available for use.
The Mean Green will face No. 20 TCU on Wednesday, Feb. 27 at 2 p.m. at the Waranch Tennis Complex. North Texas players will sign autographs in the Waranch Lobby at the conclusion of the match.
