Courtesy: Jim HiltonWACO, Texas (10/23/12) - North Texas' Kseniya Bardabush defeated SMU's Edyta Cieplucha in straight sets 6-3; 6-4 at the USTA/ITA Texas Regional at the Hurd Tennis Center on the campus of Baylor University.
"I was very excited to win the finals," Bardabush said. "I think that consolation was a great opportunity for me to challenge myself and play with some good players."
This was the second meeting between Bardabush and No. 34 nationally ranked Cieplucha. Bardabush defeated Cieplucha 4-6; 6-4; 6-1 when the pair met in the quarterfinals of the Longhorn Invitational in September.
Bardabush rebounded from an early loss to Rice's Kimberly Anicete to win six straight matches on her way to winning the singles consolation final.
The Mean Green tennis team returns to action Nov. 2-3 at the Cougar Invitational at the John E. Hoff Courts on the campus of University of Houston.
