Young Leads Mean Green With Two Goals

DENTON, Texas (9/28/12) - North Texas soccer won its third straight Sun Belt Conference game with a 4-0 shutout over the South Alabama Jaguars on Friday, September 28.

The Mean Green scored four goals in the second half to secure the win and improve to 8-3-1 on the season. The defensive held South Alabama to zero shots.

Senior Michelle Young scored the first goal of the night in the 51st minute to make it 1-0. Just minutes later Young scored her second goal of the night and fifth goal the season off a corner kick from Karla Pineda to put the Mean Green up 2-0.

Senior Carly McDowell scored her fourth goal of the season in the 58th minute with a beaming shot past South Alabama goalkeeper Melissa Drish from 30 yards out.

Senior Katelyn Ross scored the final goal of the night with just 39 seconds left in regulation. This marks Ross's first goal of the season.

The Mean Green return to action Sunday, September 30, against Troy.
