North Texas Cheerleading
Thanks for your interest in North Texas Cheerleading. The cheer squad is active following spring tryouts with practices and preparations to attend collegiate cheer camp and finalize preparations in support of the upcoming athletics season. Cheerleaders provide support at pep rallies, home and away football games, home basketball events, the conference basketball tournament and other appropriate University and athletic functions both within the Mean Green community and throughout the Metroplex.

Information
Time Commitments:
Tryout
clinic - (TBA) April - Those trying out must attend both days of the tryout
clinic
Tryout-
(TBA) April - Interview and the physical tryout
Two weeks
during the summer - Practices and camp (Camp is the last part of July date TBA)
4-6 hours
per week for practices (4:30-6:30 on Monday/Wednesday)
Academics:
Squad
members must maintain a minimum 2.0 GPA.
Travel:
Out of
town travel costs and per diem are covered by the athletic support groups
budget and the North Texas Athletic Department.
Equipment
supplied by North Texas:
Uniform,
camp clothes, warm ups, cold weather gear, practice facility, mats, etc.
Scholarships:
We are
working to enhance this funding through sponsorship, fund-raising and
donations.
Fundraisers:
There are
a minimum of 5 fundraisers for the year.
Appearances:
The
Athletic Department requires squad appearance at various functions throughout
the entire year.
These
include: Alumni functions, elementary school appearances, auctions, bonfires,
campus bookstores, parades, etc.
Game Week
Involvement:
During
the week of a home football game there are appearances throughout the
week on campus including Friday night pep rallies. On Game day,
squad members are required to be at Mean Green Village 4 hours prior to kick
off for various tailgating related functions.
Personal
Insurance Requirements:
Squad
members must have current proof of personal health insurance before
participating in tryouts; personal insurance must also be maintained throughout
participation.
