LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – A depleted North Texas lineup couldn’t keep up with UALR down the stretch in a 67-53 loss, which snapped the Mean Green’s three-game win streak at the Jack Stephen’s Center.

The Mean Green (6-11, 1-5 SBC) led by as many as seven points early in the second half, but a 12-0 Trojan (10-8, 4-3 SBC) run gave UALR momentum and the lead for good – a lead they would push to as much as 17. UALR outscored NT 33-13 over the game’s final 15 minutes.

An injury-plagued unit, NT suited up just seven scholarship players and one walk-on Thursday.

Alzee Williams paved the way in the first half and Tony Mitchell had his way in the second. Both players led the Mean Green with 13 points apiece, and Mitchell picked up a pair of blocks.

The Trojans countered with 16 points from James White and 60.0 percent shooting as a team in the second half. UALR turned the ball over only eight times, but forced 17 Mean Green giveaways.

Williams shot 62.5 percent combined in his previous two starts against UALR, and the junior picked up right where he left off on Thursday. Williams was 5-of-6 from the floor in the opening frame for 13 points, but was held scoreless in the second.

NT shot 48 percent from the floor in the first half, and Roger Franklin splashed home a 5-footer bunny at the buzzer to send the Mean Green into the break with a 32-27 lead.

UALR’s Kemy Osse was held scoreless in the first half, but hit back-to-back 3-pointers and spurred the 12-0 Trojan run that pushed the score to 54-44 with 7:20 remaining.

North Texas returns home to face South Alabama at the Super Pit on Saturday. Tipoff is slated for 7 p.m. following the women’s game against the Jaguars.
