SAN ANTONIO, Texas - Powered by senior's Rodolfo Cazaubon and Carlos Ortiz, the No. 35 North Texas men's golf team has the lead after the first round of the Lone Star Invite.  Cazaubon and Ortiz are one and two on the leaderboard after 18 holes as Cazaubon shot a 4-under par 68 while Ortiz fired a 3-under par 69.

North Texas as a team has a three-stroke lead over Denver after a first round of 4-under par 284. It is the third time this season that Cazaubon has taken a lead into the clubhouse. North Texas has four players in the top-25 after the first round.

Cazaubon's one shot lead heading into the second round was fueled by nearly mistake free golf. He had five birdies on the day and only one bogey. Ortiz had a sizzling start, playing the front nine holes at 5-under par, that included a stretch of four straight birdies. Two back nine bogeys brought his score back to 3-under for the day.

Senior Curtis Donahoe fought through three double bogeys on the day to shoot a 1-over par 73. Donahoe answered the double bogeys with five birdies on the day as he is tied for 18th place. Jason Roets is tied for 24th place after firing a 2-over par 74. Roets was at 4-over after 12 holes, but three straight birdies on 14, 15, and 16 moved him into the top-25.

Freshman Gonzalo Rubio is tied for 49th place after shooting a first round of 76. The second round continues tomorrow and live scoring can be found at www.golfstat.com.
