TOLEDO, Ohio - It was a windy and wet final round and the North Texas men's golf team saw their opening day lead slip away as they finished in a tie for second place at the Inverness Invite. The Mean Green shot a final round of 311 and finished in a three-way tie for second place with Florida State and Kent State. Northwestern took home the team title.
Sophomore Jason Roets had a career-best finish as he shot a 216, good for third place and just one shot off the eventual tournament champion. Roets battled through the conditions to fire a third round of 75, with his lone birdie coming on the 8th hole. The rest of the afternoon was a difficult one for the Mean Green. Rodolfo Cazaubon, the leader after the first day, shot a final round of 79 and finished tied for 11th. Curtis Donahoe also posted a final round of 79 and tied for 20th place overall. Carlos Ortiz shot a third round of 78 and to finish in 27th place and Juan Munoz had a third round of 78. North Texas returns to action Sept. 24-25 at the Shoal Creek Intercollegiate. |
