DENTON, Texas (5/3/12) - The North Texas softball team raised more than $2,000 for the DFW Leukemia & Lymphoma Society at its annual Play For Kay Game on Wednesday, May 2.

Through on-line donations, donations at the gate and proceeds from t-shirt sales and a silent auction, the Mean Green had its most successful Play For Kay Game to date.

This year the North Texas softball team partnered with Delta Sigma Phi, Miss Texas Kendall Morris, and the DFW Leukemia & Lymphoma Society to spread awareness to the local community.

The North Texas softball team plays in honor of their team insurance coordinator, Kay Johnson, who is in remission from leukemia. Johnson threw out the first pitch at Wednesday's game.

Over the last five years, the North Texas softball team has raised more than $6,000 for the DFW's Leukemia & Lymphoma Society through the Play for Kay Games.
