Fraley Named Conference Player Of The Week

DENTON, Texas (4/16/12)  -- North Texas senior designated player Maddelyn Fraley was named Sun Belt Conference player of the week for her performance this past week, as announced by the conference office on Monday.

The recognition is the first for Fraley and the third for the North Texas softball team this season. The three weekly honors is the most recognition that North Texas has received from the Sun Belt during a single-season.


Fraley led the Mean Green to two wins last week with a .647 hitting percentage and seven RBI. She went 11-for-17 with two doubles and a home run. In the win against Texas State, she went 3-for-4 with two doubles and a home run for five RBI. She knocked in the only two runs in the two Mean Green's losses to ULM and went 3-for-4 in the win against the Warhawks. She hit safely in all five games last week and has a current seven-game hitting streak.


With her team-leading 10th home run of the season against Texas State, she moved into fifth place on NT's single-season home run list. With her seven RBI, she moved into fourth in the single-season RBI record book.


Overall, Fraley leads the team with a .369 batting average, 48 hits and 39 RBI. She is tied for fourth in the Sun Belt in hits, is fourth in RBI, seventh in batting average and third in home runs. Nationally, she is ranked 70th in home runs per game and 42nd in runs batted in per game.


North Texas is 19-21-1 this season and 9-8-1 in the Sun Belt Conference.
