cross country team. The Mean Green finished the 2011 season with a second place finish at the Sun Belt Cross Country Championships for the women.
Cross Country coach Sam Burroughs was named the Sun Belt Conference's Women's Coach of the Year for their performace.
Senior Sara Dietz received All-SBC honors for her top-10 finish at the meet along with Ingrid Mollenkopf. Dietz went on to net All-South Central Regional honors for her finish at the NCAA South Central Regional meet.
The men's side of the field saw a seventh-place finish at the Sun Belt Conference Championships, with junior Matt Russ leading the Mean Green in over half the races during the 2011 season.

A member of the Sun Belt
Conference, North Texas has captured 14 conference championships since 2001.
Individually, 58 Mean Green student-athletes were named All-Sun Belt Conference
during the 2010-11 school year. This past season, the Mean Green finished in
the top three at conference championships in six sports, including three
third-place finishes for the Mean Green track & field teams. The volleyball
team won a share of the West Division title, while the men's basketball team
advanced to the conference championship game for the second straight year.
In 2010-11, both golf teams saw
postseason play. The men's and women's golf teams received at-large bids to the
NCAA Regional Tournament after posting record-breaking seasons. The men
finished in a tie for second at the conference tournament and finished in the
top 5 in nine of their 10 regular season tournaments. The women finished fourth
in the conference tournament and won four regular-season tournaments.
The men's basketball teams
have won at least 20 games for five consecutive years, and the soccer program
continued its winning tradition by posting its 16th straight winning
season in 2010. The swimming and diving team posted its third straight
third-place finish at the conference tournament.

Please note that, per NCAA rules, coaches can only respond via e-mail to juniors (after September 1) and seniors in high school. Coaches must mail responses to freshmen and sophomores, per NCAA rules. You can call any North Texas coach, but they cannot return your phone call unless you are a senior in high school.
Located in the heart of the new Mean Green Athletic Village, the Athletic Center serves as the centerpiece of North Texas Athletics. The 45,000 square foot Athletic Center provides a completely new environment for the education, strength, conditioning and medical treatment of the student-athletes. It meets the athletic and personal needs of both male and female competitors with the ultimate goal of maximum performance in their respective sports.

Academic Athletic Services
In the Fall of 2005, the academic and compliance staff relocated to the Mean Green Village. Located on Bonnie Brae, the new Student-Athlete Development Center is three times the size of the former academic center. The Center serves as the cornerstone of the Mean Green Village and is only a short walk from the surrounding sports facilities.
