DENTON, Texas (2/1/13) - Mean Green track & field travels west to tackle the Red Raider Open on Saturday at the Athletic Training Center on the campus of Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas.

Week Four Notes

North Texas is coming off an impressive showing at the Howie Ryan Invitational and Multi's where senior Jo Adams broke the 33-year-old mile record set by Leana Hocking and junior Shahaf Bareni launched past the women's high jump record.

Unlike last season when the distance members traveled to Lubbock, the Mean Green will be taking full men's and women's teams. Many will be experiencing the unique shape, a complete circle instead of the custom oval shape, of the Athletic Training Center's track for the first time.

North Texas track & field men's team moved up from the 15th spot in the South Central Region poll to the 14th spot while the women's team moved up from the 15th spot to 13th.

The Red Raider Open will begin with the men's and women's long jump at 10 a.m. as well as the men's weight throw. Running events will begin at 11 a.m. with the women's 4x800 meter relay. The results of the Red Raider Open will be posted online at the conclusion of the meet.
