LITTLE ROCK (10/5/12) - In the season opener, North Texas swimming and diving met UALR on Friday afternoon with the Mean Green coming away victorious by a score of 154-77.

The event opened with the 200 yard medley relay, and the Mean Green combination of Mona Groteguth, Krista Rossum, Bianca Bocsa and Michelle Balcaen took first place with an overall time of 1:48.04. Rossum also edged out UALR's Teplova Valeriya in the 100-yard freestyle by half a second to come in first with a final time of 53.53.

NT's Joanna Wozniak also had a strong showing placing first in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:57.11 and second in the 200-yard breaststroke.

"It's always good to come away with a win, especially against a conference opponent that gave us some great races today," head coach Joe Dykstra said. "We swam some different events today with mixed results. We are really excited to see how well we can compete as a team tomorrow in the Razorback Relays."

NT swimming and diving will return to the pool on Oct. 6 in Fayetteville, Ark., for the Razorback Relays.
