DENTON, Texas (10/5/12) - The North Texas swimming and
diving team will travel to Arkansas this weekend to compete in its first dual
meet of the season against Arkansas-Little Rock, and follow that up the next
day at the Razorback Relays.
The Mean Green will take on UALR on Friday in its first
dual meet of the season. It is the first and only Sun Belt conference opponent that
North Texas will face until the conference championships in February.
On Saturday, the swim and dive team will compete in Razorback
Relays, hosted by the University of Arkansas. SMU, Vanderbilt, Missouri State will
all put up their best relays to go against the Mean Green.
So far this season, the Mean Green has participated in a
pair of tune-ups, including the Green vs. White Meet and the Alumni Meet.
Krista Rossum was the star of the Green vs. White Meet, winning all three
events she swam - the 100-yard breaststroke, 200-yard breaststroke and the
200-yard IM.
In 2011-12, North Texas finished ninth in
CollegeSwimming.com / CSCAA Mid-Major Poll, residing as the top ranked Sun Belt
Conference team and peaked as high as a program-best seventh during the season.
For the fourth consecutive year, North Texas finished
third at the Sun Belt Conference Championships. The team fell 37 points shy of
a second place finish.
Of the 22 events, North Texas swimmers and divers set 18
new school records in 2011-12, and posted 62 new entries on the program's
all-time top 10 performers list.
