DENTON, Texas -- Sophomore defender Kelsey Hodges was
named the Sun Belt Conference player of the week for November 1 after her
performance in a victory against Denver Oct. 26.
Hodges scored the game's only goal, off
a free kick from beyond midfield, to give North Texas the Sun Belt Regular
Season Championship.
She played in all 90 minutes for the
Mean Green, blocking a 63rd minute free kick with her face and still
remained in the game as north Texas held Denver scoreless for the second time
this year.
She leads all Sun Belt defenders with
seven goals this season, and has goals in back-to-back games.
She was also named to the
CollegeSoccer360 Primetime Performers of the Week, which is a national team of
the week.
Hodges becomes the third North Texas
representative for the Sun Belt Conference player of the week in 2011.
The Mean Green begin the Sun Belt
Tournament Nov. 2 in Murfreesboro, TN as the top seed overall looking to defeat
Troy for the second time this year.
