Mean Green Wins Fifth Straight Sun Belt Game |

DENTON, Texas (10/5/12) - North Texas soccer propelled its way to a fifth straight Sun Belt Conference win with a 2-1 victory over Florida Atlantic on Friday night at the Mean Green Soccer Complex. NT held a significant advantage in shots with 26 while holding FAU to eight. With the win, NT improves to 10-3-1 on the season. Sophomore Leah Cox picked up her first career goal off an assist by freshman Marissa Pantoja. It was a header on a corner kick putting the Mean Green up by one. FAU battled back with a goal from Emslie Claire off a Brittney Nash assist. This tied the game briefly until freshman Karla Pineda dribbled through defenders and put one in to take the lead back for the Mean Green. It was Pineda's fifth goal and second game-winner of the season. The Mean Green concludes its Florida portion of the Sun Belt schedule on Sunday, Oct. 7, against FIU. |
