Senior Justin Patton, a transfer from Grambling State who missed the first two games of the season due to a knee injury, had a season high in points Saturday night, and he reached it before halftime. Patton had six points in the first half on his way to a eight-point night.
North Texas struggled to get leading-scorer Tony Mitchell involved in the offense. Mitchell, who came into the game averaging 15.1 points per game, had one point and no field-goal attempts in the first 20 minutes and finished with three points on one field-goal attempt.
North Texas sophomore guard Chris Jones had a season-high in points with 23 and matched his season high in rebounds with five.
After falling behind in rebounds early, 7-1, North Texas finished the night with a rebounding edge, 34-32, including 17 offensive rebounds.
Roger Franklin matched his season high in offensive rebounds with four, the third game this year that Franklin has had four offensive boards.
