DENTON, Texas - North Texas freshman forward Alexis Hyder was named the Sun Belt Conference Player of the Week today after her clutch performances in the Mean Green's two wins last week.  Hyder had her best week of the season notching her fifth career double-double and career-highs in points and rebounds to lead North Texas to an undefeated week.

In snapping the Arkansas State seven-game winning streak, Hyder poured in a career-high 23 points on 10-of-16 shooting and had nine rebounds. In the win over Louisiana-Lafayette, Hyder scored 14 points and grabbed a career-high 16 rebounds.

The 16 rebounds by Hyder were the most by a North Texas freshman since the 2005 season. For the week she averaged a double-double with 19.5 points and 12.5 rebounds.

In addition Hyder was named the Sun Belt Player of the Week by Collegesportsmadness.com.  Hyder is the first North Texas player to earn the weekly honor from the league this season.

North Texas returns home this week for two games, first on Thursday night against Western Kentucky then Saturday night they battle FIU. Both games are at 5 p.m.
