NIT Season Tip-Off Consolation Bracket DENTON, Texas – The North Texas basketball team learned its destination and next two opponents in the Consolation Round of the NIT Season Tip-Off – Charlottesville, Va. to take on IUPUI and Virginia. The Mean Green (1-2) will head to John Paul Jones Arena to face the Jaguars (2-1) on Monday at 3:30 p.m. and Cavaliers (1-2) on Tuesday at 6 p.m. NT will be facing both teams for the first time in school history. Both games can be heard on the Mean Green Radio Network (88.1-FM KNTU, 95.3-FM KFYI)/ In first-round action, North Texas fell to Alabama-Huntsville on Monday night before rebounding with a 74-59 win over Lamar. Tony Mitchell tallied double-doubles in both games, and leads the Mean Green with 15.3 points, 9.3 rebounds and 2.3 blocks per game. The Jaguars are coming off an impressive 80-66 win over Bowling Green on Tuesday that was keyed by Michael Patton’s 27 points and 13 rebounds. Michigan downed IUPUI on Monday, 91-54, in Ann Arbor. Virginia, which entered the NIT Season Tip-Off as the No. 2 seed, took down Fairfield, 54-45, on Monday before getting tripped up by Delaware, 59-53. Joe Harris leads the Cavaliers with 18.0 points per game. |
