DENTON, Texas – Ken Murczek and the North Texas volleyball team added another impressive class of four, which includes three Under Armour Preseason All-American Watch List members, and three players who advanced to last weekend’s UIL State Tournament.
“I’m extremely excited about not only the athletic potential
that all these recruits possess, but what outstanding people they are,” Murczek
said. “I look forward to working with all of these student athletes next fall
in continuing our drive for a Sun Belt championship. Each of these young ladies
had a successful high school career and will continue to train at a high level
with their respective club teams, and can challenge for a Junior Olympic
National Championship.”
North Texas advanced to the Sun Belt Tournament semifinals for the second straight year, and has recorded back-to-back .500 seasons for the first time since 1976 and 1977. Freshman Eboni Godfrey earned Second-Team All-Sun Belt, as well All-Sun Belt Tournament team honors.
Kaci Eaton - MB - Lake Travis High School
Eaton helped Lake Travis notch the state’s first perfect 50-0 record and the 4A
state title – their second straight. As a matter of fact, the Cavaliers are the
only team in state history to lose just one set the entire season, and the
Austin American-Statesman tabbed Lake Travis as possibly “the greatest team in
Texas high school volleyball history”. Eaton was a member of the 2011-12 Under
Armour All-America Watch List prior to her senior season.
“The leader of her club team as a left side player, Kaci transitioned to the middle for Lake Travis’ state-title run and was a standout. She is another versatile player that can help North Texas in all six rotations.”
Carnae Dillard - OH - Lady Bird Johnson High School
Dillard, who was a high school teammate of North Texas freshman Analisse
Shannon, posted 23 kills in the 5A state semifinal match – her school’s first
appearance at the UIL State Tournament. She was a member of the 2011-12 Under
Armour All-America Watch List, as well as a Prepvolleyball.com “Senior Ace”,
which is list of the top 150 seniors in the nation.
“She is probably the most decorated player that North Texas has recruited in the last five years. The progress she has made on defense and serve-receive will help her make a smooth transition to the college game.”
Katie Dudding - MB - Randall High School
Dudding and Randall High School won the state title during her sophomore year,
and she helped lead Randall back to the state semifinals last weekend, where
she tallied six blocks. Just the second Randall graduate to sign with a
Division I school, Dudding was also member of the 2011-12 Under Armour
All-America Watch List.
“Katie is an undersized front row player with a huge vertical jump and a fast arm. She has shown versatility at playing both in the middle and the outside at the state championship level. I feel she has the potential to be extremely successful at this level both in the front and back rows.”
Tayler Whittington - MB - Sherman HS
Whittington, the leading scorer and blocker for Sherman High School, was named
the 2011 District 13-4A “MVP Blocker” following her senior season. She was also
named first-team all-district as a junior. The multisport star, who owns a near
30-inch vertical, earned honorable mention all-district honors for the Lady
Cats basketball team, and stars in multiple track events.
“Tayler is such an amazing athlete, and possesses everything we look for in a recruit. I think her potential in college volleyball is through the roof and I look forward to developing her skills over the next few years.”
