NT Places 158 Athletes On Academic Honor Roll |

DENTON, Texas (7/31/12) - The University of North Texas placed 158 student-athletes on the Sun Belt Conference's annual academic honor roll, the league has announced. The 158 honorees were a part of Sun Belt Conference-record 1,793 student-athletes to earn academic honors from the league. North Texas landed 69 student-athletes on the Commissioner's List, reserved for student-athletes who earned a 3.5 GPA or higher in the 2011-12 academic year. The Mean Green placed 89 more student-athletes on the SBC Honor Roll, which honors all student-athletes who maintained a 3.0-3.49 GPA. Football led North Texas with 31 student-athletes on the list, including seven Commissioner's List honorees and 24 Honor Roll performers. Swimming and diving followed with 26 honorees, including 18 on the Commissioner's List, and women's track and field and cross-country followed with 25. A record 1,793 Sun Belt Conference student-athletes earned a GPA over 3.0 for the previous school year. The 2011-12 school year marked the third time in the last four years that the academic honors were doled out to 1,700 or more student-athletes.
