Mean Green Sign Cornerback D.Q. Johnson

DENTON, Texas - The University of North Texas football team has signed cornerback D.Q. Johnson to a National Letter of Intent. Johnson, an Iowa Western Community College transfer, is enrolled and will participate in upcoming spring football practices for North Texas.

Johnson played in eight games last season at Iowa Western Community College and recorded 20 tackles. As a freshman Johnson played in seven games and had 18 tackles and one interception.

In total Johnson had 38 tackles, two interceptions, four pass breakups, and three blocked field goals in his time at Iowa Western. In addition Johnson was named to the Academic All-Region team in 2011.  He is rated as a three-star recruit according to Rivals.com.

In high school Johnson was a wide receiver at Roosevelt High School in Des Moines and had 30 catches, 506 yards, and three touchdowns and was named to the Central Iowa Metro League all-conference team.
