DENTON, Texas - The 2010 North Texas football team awards were announced at the team's annual banquet Friday night.  Junior running back Lance Dunbar was honored with the Odus Mitchell Team MVP  Award after his record-setting season in which he finished No. 5 in the nation in rushing. 

Senior offensive lineman and team captain Victor Gill was named the team's Outstanding Offensive Player, taking home the Steve Ramsey Award named after the Hall of Fame quarterback.  The Joe Greene Outstanding Defensive Award was given to senior linebacker Craig Robertson, who finished his career ranked No. 3 in career tackles at North Texas. 

True freshman Zach Olen earned the Abner Haynes Outstanding Special Teams Award, after setting freshman records for his kicking performance last season.  Sophomore wide receiver Darius Carey and sophomore linebacker Jeremy Phillips earned their respective position awards as did junior defensive back Royce Hill and senior defensive lineman Kelvin Jackson. 

The Phillip Armour Outstanding Offensive Lineman Award was split between seniors Kelvin Drake and Esteban Santiago as well as sophomore Aaron Fortenberry.  The Shawn Kramer Most Inspirational Player Award was given to quarterback Riley Dodge.

The sellout crowd also enjoyed new head football coach Dan McCarney's first public update on the recently-completed coaching staff and the most recent update on the team's off-season progress report.  McCarney and his staff are currently in the middle putting together their first recruiting class that will be announced on National Signing Day Feb. 2.
