No. 1 - Apogee Stadium, A New Beginning
November 21, 2009 ground was broken ceremoniously and Apogee Stadium was born. 18 months later it's here. Finally North Texas has a stadium. A new stadium with suites, club seats, a press box (with elevators!), a spirit store, a scoreboard (make that two), and a permanent place to call home for the next generation.
Apogee Stadium is the centerpiece of the Mean Green Village. It has a capacity of nearly 31,000, 21 luxury suites, 750 club seats, banquet space and a team spirit apparel store.
It has new traditions. A hill for students and fans to meet at outside the stadium for tailgating. The geezels generously donated money for the bronze eagle "Spiriki". He sits on the South end of the stadium just under the scoreboard that the team will pass and touch on their way out of the locker room.
There is the unique looking "wing" on the north end of the stadium. A one-of-a-kind structure, it has a view at the top of the "eagle wing" that is unlike any in all of football.
The stadium also has a site for the homecoming bonfire around the pond area on the NW side of the stadium. It has a brand new Alumni center on the NE side of the stadium. It has a massive banquet space in the club level, open plaza areas on both corners of the concourse, and the ability to be a multi-purpose venue for more than just football games.
September 10 will be a special day for all, but Apogee Stadium needs just one more thing. You.
