2010 Johnny Jones Basketball Camps

The 2010 Johnny Jones Basketball Camps are back for another fun-filled summer of basketball for your child!  We are happy to offer three individual sessions throughout the summer.  These Camps are designed for athletes entering the 1st-12th grade who want to improve their overall game.  Boys & Girls as young as 6 years old may also register, but must sign up for the day camp option.  The emphasis of each camp will be on individual improvement in basketball fundamentals: shooting, dribbling, passing, and defense.  Mean Green players and coaches will focus on drills, position skills and team play will be taught with an emphasis on fundamentals.

Camp Dates/Times:


June 14-17: Mean Green Day Camp;
June 14-16 9am-3:30pm, June 17 9am-12pm
(Boys entering 4th-9th grade) $165

at Mean Green Village

7:30-8:45 a.m., June 14th at Mean Green Village
Awards:
Award Ceremony will take place at 12 p.m. on June 17th
Lunch will be provided
The purpose is to provide basic skills of shooting, ballhandling, rebounding, defense and much more. Sessions will consist of fundamental drills, contests, and games. Campers may be dropped off as early as 8:30 a.m. and picked up at 4 p.m.

June 24-27: Mean Green Overnight Camp
(Boys age 9-17) $350
(Commuters: $260)
June 24 3:30pm-9pm, June 25-26 9am-9pm, June 27 9 am -12 pm

Location: Bruce Hall
Ages: 9-17 years of age
Registration: 3:30 pm - 5 pm, June 24th at Bruce Hall on the campus of UNT
Checkout: 12 pm on June 27
Awards: Will begin at 11:15 am on June 27th
Camp begins each morning at 8:45 am and finishes at 9 pm
Lunch and dinner included for commuters
The purpose is to provide the basic skills of shooting, ballhandling, rebounding, defense and much more. Sessions will consist of station drills, mass drills and games. Our camp is designed to teach every phase of the game. There will also be many contests in which campers compete.


Housing and Meals
All overnight campers will be housed in Bruce Hall on the UNT Campus. Campers will be roomed according to preferences and age/grade. The majority of the staff members will also reside in the dorm with the campers. Campers will be served an abundance of wholesome meals. Breakfast, lunch and dinner will be served to overnight campers. Commuter campers will be provided lunch and dinner only.

What To Bring
T-shirts, shorts, socks basketball shoes, towels, washcloshs, toiletry articles and bedding for twin size bed.

 

July 12-15: Little Eagle Camp; 9am-12pm each day
(Boys & Girls entering 1st-3rd grade) $145

8-9 am, July 12th at Mean Green Village
Awards:
Will begin at 11:30 am on July 15th
This camp is to introduce basketball fundamentals to our youngest fans. Sessions will consist of basic skill development in ballhandling, shooting, and team play. Campers may be dropped off at 8:30 am and picked up at 12 pm

At the time of registration, you can either pay your camp fees in full or make a $50 deposit.  At anytime, you may log back in to the payment site and make a payment for your camper.

Insurance
All campers must have their own medical insurance coverage. Proof of insurance must be provided prior to the beginning of camp. All campers are covered by an excess group policy. A certified athletic trainer will be on staff during the camp.



Discounts:

  • UNT Employees receive a 15% discount on all camps!


Medical Healthcare & Insurance:

Proof of medical insurance is required for all campers participating in the camps.  All medical forms are available on the camp website.


Supervision:

The safety of your children is our top priority!  Experienced and mature coaches/ counselors provide 24 hour supervision for all campers.  Dorm staff is on duty 24 hours a day to ensure the safety of the campers at the dorm.  All employees have passed a background check conducted by the University of North Texas Human Resources Department.
