We are excited about your interest in the University of North Texas and Mean Green women's tennis.

Reflecting on the achievements in '08-09, the squad reached its highest win total (17) since 1984-85 and earned the second best all-time winning percentage for a season (.739).
The team rode a 10-match win streak into the conference semifinals before falling to No.1 seeded Denver in 4 hour 45 min match. The Mean Green picked up victories along the way against UTEP, New Mexico State, Central Florida, Rice, and Troy. Every loss was to a ranked opponent or an opponent who was ranked at one point during the season.

Head Coach Sujay Lama was named a finalist for the prestigious Giant Steps Award and f
reshmen Irina Paraschiv and Paula Dinuta were selected SBC Women’s Players of the Week. Sophomore Madura Ranganathan defeated nationally-ranked (No. 58) Mariana Muci of FIU. Six players reached 10 wins in singles including four who had at least 14 victories. Amy Joubert led the way with 15 wins. Not one player had a losing record in singles. Catalina Cruz and Narine Kazarova led the squad in doubles victories with 12.

The f
uture looks bright as seven of the nine total players on the squad were freshmen and sophomores.
