We are excited about your interest in the University of North Texas and Mean Green football. The North Texas football team has won four Sun Belt Conference championships and made four trips to the New Orleans Bowl. In 2005, the Mean Green had two national rushing champions on its roster: Patrick Cobbs and Jamario Thomas. Cobbs led the nation in rushing in 2003 and left North Texas as the school's leading rusher. Wide receiver Casey Fitzgerald was named honorable mention All-American by Sports Illustrated after breaking every single-season receiving record at North Texas in 2007. He finished the season ranked No. 3 in the nation in receptions per game and No. 4 in yards per game.

Quick Hits On North Texas
A member of the Sun Belt Conference, North Texas has captured 12 conference championships since 2001. Individually, 68 Mean Green student-athletes were named All-Sun Belt Conference during the 2008-09 school year. During the 2008-09 school year, the Mean Green came up with three third-place team finishes.

The future looks bright at North Texas. Two newcomers were named conference freshman of the year. Sara Dietz received the honors in cross-country, while Keyth Talley was named freshman of the year in both indoor and outdoor track.

Facilities
Fouts Field became the home of the University of North Texas football and track teams in 1951. Originally built to seat 20,000 fans, the structure was expanded by adding 10,000 seats in the end zones prior to the 1994 season. Physical improvements, including the placement of Sportexe Omnigrass artificial turf before the 2005 football season, continue to make Fouts Field a place of pride for the players and fans. The team trains on a new practice field, the Darrell R. Dickey Practice Facility, at the Mean Green Village, which also contains a locker room and a team lounge.

Academic Athletic Services
In the Fall of 2005, the academic and compliance staff relocated to the Mean Green Village. Located on Bonnie Brae, the new Student-Athlete Development Center is three times the size of the former academic center. The Center serves as the cornerstone of the Mean Green Village and is only a short walk from the surrounding sports facilities.
