INDIANAPOLIS - Sophomore Kimmy Phillips competed in day one of the NCAA Division I Women's Swimming Championships in the 500 freestyle preliminary, and, in doing so, she took the program to never before seen heights.

She posted a time of 4:48.61 in the event while swimming against the nation's elite, and while her time was not enough to gain entry into the final round, she lifted the bar of North Texas swimming and diving with her performance.

Phillips will hop back in the pool on Saturday, March 23, for the 1650 free, her main event. The final day's action will be available for live viewing on ESPN3. The 1650 final begins at 7 p.m.

The Argyle High School product swam the 25th fastest 1650 time in the nation in order to qualify for the event.
