DENTON, Texas (3/14/13) - Mean Green tennis senior Barbora Vykydalova was named the Sun Belt Conference Player of the Week on Wednesday for her efforts against No. 22 Tulsa and Wichita State. On Saturday, Vykydalova defeated Tulsa's Isaura Enrique in straight sets, 6-2; 6-2, at the No. 2 position. Vykydalova went 2-0 to help lift the Mean Green to victory over the Wichita State Shockers. Vykydalova teamed up with fellow senior Valentina Starkova to clinch the doubles point defeating Lucia Blaskova and Lucia Kovolova, 8-4, at the No. 1 doubles spot. Vykydalova went on to defeat Kovolova, 6-2; 6-2, in the No. 2 singles position. North Texas returns to action on Saturday when it travels to Lafayette, La., to face ULM and Louisiana-Lafayette on March 16 and 17. |
