SB: Senior Hirsch Provides Versatility, Leadership

Lesley Hirsch is a versatile athlete who has played multiple positions for the Mean Green including, shortstop, third base and right field.

She played middle infield for most of her career and started off as a Mean Green freshman at shortstop. She started 41 games at shortstop as a freshman. As a sophomore, she became more comfortable at the plate and hit over .300 for the first time in her career. She spent most of the season at shortstop.

As a junior, Hirsch moved over to third base and started to see some time in right field. At the plate, she finished fourth on team with a .304 batting average and 51 hits. She was also tied for second on team with eight stolen bases.

In 2013, Hirsch is expected to see a lot of time in the outfield. She will be one of the few returners in the outfield and will need to be a leader for the Mean Green.

North Texas opens its season on Friday, Feb. 8 at the Texas Classic in Austin, Texas.
