Mean Green Raises Money For Project Nepal |

DENTON, Texas (12/12/12) - North Texas student-athletes, spirit squad members and coaches banded together during the holiday season to raise money for Project Nepal, a charity run by the Mean Green tennis coach Sujay Lama. The Mean Green donated over $900 to Project Nepal to help send Nepalese orphans to school. The money pays for books, clothes, food, and tuition. The-student athletes wanted to not only help those less fortunate, but also to help someone in the Mean Green family. "Coach Lama's Project Nepal is a very special organization," said Michele Lowry, the student-athlete affairs coordinator at North Texas. "The student-athletes wanted the chance to support him and his charity and give an educational opportunity to a child." "Quite honestly, I am speechless and deeply touched by this gesture from the student athletes and the coaches," said Lama. "It means the world to me to have the Mean Green family join me in helping the orphans in Nepal through their contributions to Project Nepal. Together, we can make a difference in this world one child at a time." Project Nepal is operated by North Texas head tennis coach Sujay Lama. For 20 years, the Lama family operated the Nabha Deepti School for orphans in Kathmandu. Currently Project Nepal supports the education of ten children at the nearby Prayas Nepal school, the first time a private school has admitted indigent school children. Project Nepal distributes nearly 95 percent of its money directly to their students and uses no professional fundraisers.
