LAFAYETTE, La. – The North Texas volleyball team is just one win away from history. In Sunday afternoon’s match at Louisiana-Lafayette, the Mean Green can score just the sixth 20-win season in school history.
In fact, head coach Ken Murczek can become just the second NT coach to score a pair of 20-win seasons. The 2012 squad still has a shot at the school record of 26 wins put up by the 1977 team.
This will be NT’s second look at the Ragin’ Cajuns this year, after taking a five-set thriller in Sept. Carnae Dillard piled up 21 kills and 11 digs that night. The match will be an important one in the SBC West, as both teams are a match out of first place.
Last weekend, the Mean Green earned a split against the Sunshine State duo of FIU (L 3-0) and Florida Atlantic (W 3-1). Karissa Flack was the standout in the win over the Owls with a career-high 10 blocks - the second-most in an SBC match this year.
Thanks to the consistent attack of Courtney Windham and Flack, North Texas is posting one of the top attack percentages in school history. The Mean Green is hitting .228 so far this year, which is the third highest in program history. Windham is fourth in school history with a .327 hitting mark, and Flack isn’t far behind in third with .330.
