JONESBORO, Ark. (10/12/12) - The Mean Green soccer team squeezed by Arkansas State, 2-1, after a tie-breaking goal by Leah Cox in the 83rd minute on Friday afternoon. The win pushes the Mean Green's conference record to 6-0-1 and overall record to 11-3-2. North Texas persevered through wet field conditions after a week of rain in Arkansas. Michelle Young scored the first goal for the Mean Green in the 18th minute and now sits alongside Kelsey Hodges atop the North Texas season goals scored chart with seven. "Well it rained all week up here and they seemed to handle the poor field conditions better than we did," head coach John Hedlund said. "It was just very tough to utilize our speed and and get our possession game going but fortunately Michelle and Leah came up with two big goals, and we were able to get the win." North Texas continues its Arkansas trip Sunday with a matchup against UALR at 1 p.m. |
