NT Track & Field Announces 2013 Schedule

DENTON, Texas (9/25/12) - North Texas head track and field coach Carl Sheffield announced the 2013 schedule on Tuesday morning. The schedule includes one home meet and stretches from Walnut, Calif. to Miramar, Fla.

The Mean Green kicks off 2013 with a nine-week indoor season that begins in College Station, Texas for the Texas A&M 12-Team Invitational on Saturday, January 12. The squad will then travel to Norman, Okla. for the 13th annual J.D. Martin Invitational on Saturday, January 19.

The Mean Green will return to the state of Texas to compete in the Houston Indoor Invitational January 25-26. The squad then travels to the Red Raider Open February 1-2.

North Texas will take two roads trips to round off the regular indoor season heading to the Iowa State Open in Ames, Iowa on February 7-9 before returning to Norman, Okla. for the Oklahoma Invitational on February 16.

The Sun Belt Indoor Championships will be held February 23-24 at Arkansas State inside the Convocation Center with the NCAA Indoor Championships in Fayetteville, Ark. March 8-9.

North Texas begins the outdoor season traveling to various Texas schools. The first stop of the outdoor season will be the TCU Invitational in Fort Worth on Friday, March 21. The Mean Green then head to Waco for the Baylor Quad on March 22 followed by the legendary Texas Relays in Austin March 27-30. Members of the North Texas squad not competing at the Relays will compete at the Bobcat Invitational March 28-29.

The Mean Green returns to Denton to host the North Texas Classic on Saturday, April 6. The squad will travel to El Paso, Texas April 12-13 for the UTEP Invitational before heading west to the Mt. SAC Relays in Walnut, Calfi. April 18-19.

North Texas will return to Waco, Texas for the Michael Johnson Classic on April 20 before heading to the state of Des Moines, Iowa for the Drake Relays April 25-27. The Mean Green will take its third trip to Norman, Okla. for the John Jacobs Invitational on April 26 before taking its second trip to Lubbock, Texas for the Texas Tech Invitational on May 4.

The Sun Belt Outdoor Championships are scheduled for May 11-12 in Miramar, Fla. while the NCAA West Preliminary will make a return to Austin May 23-25.

The 2013 NCAA Outdoor Championships will be held in Eugene, Ore. at the historic Hayward Field June 5-8.
