SOC: Young, Kerestine Lead Team Toward Season

DENTON, Texas (7/24/12) - North Texas soccer announced today that it will be hosting an exhibition game against Mean Green soccer alumni on Friday, Aug. 10.

"It's always exciting to see people from the past, players that have built the foundation and success of this program," said head coach John Hedlund. "Kendall (Juett) & Brittany (Cleveland) have done a great job of bringing several very talented players back for this year's alumni game, so for us, we will definitely have our hands full. It should be a very exciting game."

North Texas will be featuring 12 returning letterwinners, including senior Michelle Young, who led the team with 13 goals in 20 games last season.

Sophomore goalkeeper Jackie Kerestine returns for the Mean Green after setting the North Texas single-season record with a goals-against-average of 0.71 in her freshman campaign. She will receive familiar help from the defense core of juniors Alli Guderian, Kelsey Hodges and Shelly Holt.

The Sun Belt Conference regular-season champion Mean Green is coming off a 14-4-3 record in 2011, a year that included a record 1,283 in attendance of the 2-1 win over SMU at the Mean Green Soccer Complex.

The game is open to the general public with a 7:30 p.m. kick-off time, and NT students get in free with their student IDs.
