North Texas Head Coach Mike Petersen has announced the addition of Cayla Petree to the women's basketball coaching staff. Petree comes to North Texas after five seasons (2007-2012) as the head coach at Cisco College. "I am delighted that Cayla has decided to become a part of the Mean Green Women's Basketball family," said head coach Mike Petersen. "She brings a tremendous track record of success at Cisco College as a head coach which will serve us well here at North Texas. Cayla is an extremely driven person who brings a great deal of energy to anything she does. I am confident that she will have an immediate and significant impact on our student-athletes and our program" While at Cisco College, she led the Wranglers to two Region 5 Tournament Appearances in 2010 and 2011, the first time Cisco had made the tournament since 2003. Over her last three seasons at Cisco, she led the Wranglers to a 65-27 record and a 36-8 mark in conference play. After taking the reins of the program in 2007-08, she has helped 14 players achieve all-conference honors, five student-athletes named academic all-conference, and 16 players went on to play at a four year college after completion at Cisco College. Prior to Cisco, she was an assistant at New Mexico Junior College in Hobbs, N.M. from 2006-07 and worked for the Women's Basketball Coaches Association in Atlanta, Ga. in the marketing department. As a player at Cisco JC, Petree was a two-time all-conference selection, and was named conference freshman of the year in 2000-01, averaging 18 points, 7 rebounds and 3 assists. She went on to play for Texas Tech in 2002-03. She graduated with a Master's of Business Administration in Sports Marketing from Texas Tech in 2006 and a Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology from Texas Tech in 2004.
