DENTON, Texas - No. 64 Mean Green tennis returns home this weekend for a set of matches against Sun Belt Conference rival Denver and Louisville.
Friday's match between North Texas (9-5) and Denver (8-5) will mark the final regular season showdown between the two schools as members of the same conference.
"These are quality teams and that means an opportunity to be challenged and improve," said head coach Sujay Lama. "We have had a great week of practice and we are looking forward to competing and doing the best we can."
Senior Paula Dinuta, the reigning Sun Belt Conference Player of the Week, is riding a three-match win streak and is looking to stay perfect in Sun Belt play.
Fellow senior Nadia Lee, coming off a huge, 6-0, 6-1 victory at the No. 2 singles slot against Kansas, has won four of her last five matches as well. Lee was the SBC Player of the Week Feb. 8.
The Pioneers come into the match having lost their last bout with future Mean Green opponent Wichita State last weekend, 4-3.
Louisville (5-6) narrowly fell, 4-3, in its last match at Miami (Ohio) as well.
The match with Denver is scheduled for 2 p.m. Friday at the Waranch Tennis Complex and first serve for the Mean Green's matchup with Louisville is set for 11 a.m. on Sunday at the Waranch Tennis Complex.
In the event of inclement weather, North Texas will move Friday's match to Las Colinas Country Club in Las Colinas, Texas, with a 4 p.m. start. Check MeanGreenSports.com for updates on this weekend's matches.
