DENTON, Texas - North Texas tennis travels to Billingsley Tennis Center in Fayetteville, Ark., for a set of weekend matches against No. 32 Arkansas and No. 53 Kansas State.
The Mean Green (2-2) will kick-off its big weekend swing with the No. 32 Razorbacks (2-1) on Friday at 12 p.m.
North Texas is coming off a 7-0 victory over Oral Roberts and is looking to defeat a ranked team for the second time in school history. The Mean Green lost 4-3 to No. 25 Oklahoma on January 24.
Senior Irina Paraschiv, missed the fall with a shoulder injury, will be making her second appearance in singles on Friday after demolishing Oral Roberts' Hailey Martin in straight sets at the No. 2 singles position in her last match.
The match with Arkansas will serve as a homecoming for junior transfer Valentina Starkova, who played at Arkansas for the 2010 and 2011 seasons.
"I'm excited to go back to Arkansas for this weekend's matches," said Starkova. "It will be a different feeling having trained there so many times, but we just want to go up there and play hard and put ourselves in a position to win."
Saturday's match against Kansas State gives North Texas a chance for revenge after the Wildcats (2-2) defeated the Mean Green 5-2 last season at the Waranch Tennis Complex.
Kansas State will feature the No. 17 rated singles player in the country, Petra Nidermayerova. Nidermayerova defeated North Texas senior Paula Dinuta in last year's match.
Play versus both Arkansas on Friday and Kansas State on Saturday will begin at 12 p.m. from the Billingsley Tennis Center.
