No. 69 - Seven All-Conference in '69

North Texas had a very successful season in 1969, going 7-3 and finishing second in the Missouri Valley Conference under head coach Rod Rust. The Mean Green had seven first team All-MVC selections, tied with 1966 and 1965 for the most first-team selections for the Mean Green.

Barry Moore was named to the All-MVC team as a wide receiver, catching 71 passes for 1130 yards and 5 TDs, leading the MVC in receptions and reception yards.

Ron Shanklin, Moore's counterpart at the other wide receiver, caught 56 passes, 10 of those for touchdowns, which led the league, and 874 receiving yards.

Steve Ramsey, the great North Texas quarterback, completed his eligibility, finishing with NCAA records for career passing yards, and career passing touchdowns. He threw for 24 TDs and 2828 yards in 1969.

Glen Holloway was a guard who blocked for the prolific North Texas offense, and was named to the All-MVC team. He was drafted by the Chicago Bears and went on to play five seasons in the NFL.

Cedric Hardman was named first team Defensive End, and ended up setting the career sack record for the San Francisco 49ers. Sacks were not officially kept in 1969, but he would have 38 career sacks and be North Texas' career leader if they were kept.

Bernie Barbour was a back and punt returner, and named to the All-MVC team. Barbour picked off four passes and led the MVC in Punt Return Yards with 371 yards on 36 returns in 1969.

Steve Atchley was a linebacker, and named to the All-MVC team. He a picked off a pass and anchored the defense that gave up the fewest points in the Missouri Valley Conference.
