French National Team Standout Signs With NT Hoops |

DENTON, Texas - North Texas head basketball coach Johnny Jones has announced the signing of French National Team standout and Lon Morris forward Nikola Stojiljkovic.
Stojiljkovic (6-9, 210, F, Paris, France, Lon Morris College) was a prolific shooter for the U16 and U18 French National squads, and is currently attending the training camp for the U20 squad that will play for the World Championships this summer. He played in every game for Lon Morris in 2010-11, averaging 9.2 points, 6.4 rebounds and 3.3 assists per game. "We are very excited about the signing of Nikola, and we hope he will give us even more depth in the low post," Jones said. "He has the ability to shoot the ball from outside and will be a great addition to the Mean Green family." The Paris, France, native helped Lon Morris to a 21-10 record last season, and a first-round win over Panola in the Region 14 Tournament in Tyler. He will have two years of eligibility at North Texas. A regular for the French National Team at the 2009 European Championships, Stojiljkovic saw action in all nine games while averaging 19.6 minutes per contest. He scored 14 points on 6-of-9 shooting against the Czech Republic, and followed that with seven points on 2-of-4 shooting versus Spain. For the tournament, he averaged 5.4 points and 2.8 rebounds per game. Stojiljkovic also saw action in 15 games for the University of San Francisco in 2009-10. He averaged 1.5 rebounds per game in helping San Francisco to a 9-4 home record. He graduated high school from the famed INSEP Academy, the national training center for French athletes in international competition. |
