4:02 p.m.
All-American Casey Fitzgerald, known for soft hands, just went over the middle to make a 22-yard reception as the No. 1 offense is on the move. However the drive was quickly snuffed out when Eddrick Gilmore forced Vizza out of the pocket and into an incompletion.
4:06 p.m.
Nathan Tune has taken the control of the offense on this series with the two’s on offense and defense. A nice drive has setup a 42-yard field goal for newcomer Jeremy Knott. The kick is up and it’s.......no good. However this is a controlled scrimmage, so Knott gets a mulligan. Take two is perfect. Knott certainly has a leg on him, the distance with the wind would have made that field goal good from 50-yards.
4:12 p.m.
Daniel Meager, the all-time leader in passing yards in a single game at North Texas (remember that Ponies), is getting his chance under center this series. The drive stalled at midfield after Meager was flushed out of the pocked and went deep looking for freshman Sam Roberson but just overthrew him.
4:19 p.m.
More special teams activity as its Truman Spencer’s turn to be heard from. His first punt of the afternoon, well in the words of Rob Schneider from Necessary Roughness, “not much hangtime on that one”. In other words, it was blocked. His second punt was much better at 45 yards. And the pooch punt, too much leg as it went into the endzone.
4:25 p.m.
The first-team offense is back out and Vizza has them on the march. He has led them to the 35 yard line, but Adams just ended the drive with an interception at the 19-yard line. The defense so far is pitching a shutout, sans the Knott field goal.
4:31 p.m.
Another chance for the first-team offense and they are taking advantage of it. Vizza drilled a 25-yard completion to Dibrell on a slant. One play later, Cam Montgomery takes it to the house. A 31-yard gallop by Montgomery gets the North Texas offense into the endzone for the first time today.
4:36 p.m.
The third-team offense now getting its chance, Matt Phillips (if the Cowboys need a holder) just connected on a 36-yard completion to Greg Brown who had to pirouette to the left to make the grab. Three plays later, its Phillips hitting Chase Baine in the endzone for the second score of the day.
4:40 p.m.
Breece Johnson gets behind the defensive secondary for a 40-yard gain. Daniel Meager is leading the second-team offense, with Keronna Henderson in the backfield and Johnson, Sam Roberson, Alex Lott, Brock Stickler as Meager's options at the receiver position.
4:45 p.m.
Jeremy Knott just connected on one-of-two attempts from 32-yards out into the wind.
4:55 p.m.
Junior Jamel Jackson showing why many believe he's the fastest person listed on the Mean Green's spring roster. Jackson, a transfer from Northwestern State, fielded a kickoff at the 10-yard line, found a seam and was gone....but someone didn't tell kicker Jeremy Knott. Knott cornered Jackson and forced him out at the 19-yard line.
