PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fla. - Facing perhaps the deepest and most talented field of the season, the No. 33 North Texas men's golf team is tied for ninth place after the opening round of the John Hayt Collegiate Invitational. The Mean Green shot an opening round of 5-over par 293 as the tournament features 11 teams ranked in the top-50 and six top-25 teams in the nation.

Marco Scarola had a 3-over par 75 as he posted four birdies in the opening round. Jason Roets was one stroke behind Scarola with a 4-over par 76. Curtis Donahoe shot a 78 in his first 18 holes of the tournament.
