NT Finishes In Second To OU by One Shot |

SAN ANTONIO, Texas - Rodolfo Cazaubon's run at the third straight tournament title came up short and the No. 36 North Texas men's golf team finished in second place at the UTSA/Oak Hills Invitational to begin the spring season. Cazaubon, who held a share of the lead after two rounds, shot a third round of 1-under par 70 and was 5-under par for the tournament, finishing two strokes behind Kyle Jones of Baylor, the individual winner. In a nail biting team finish, the Mean Green led by three strokes heading into the final round, but No. 44 Oklahoma overtook North Texas to win by just one stroke. North Texas shot a three-round score of 863 while OU was at 862. It is the third second place finish for North Texas this season. The Mean Green finished in front of No. 40 Baylor, No. 49 Wichita State, and No. 32 Tulsa. Carlos Ortiz notched his third-straight top-10 finish as he shot a 1-over par 214. Ortiz had a final round of 2-over par 73 on the day. Ortiz led the field throughout the tournament with 16 total birdies through the three rounds. Curtis Donahoe had a top-20 finish as he had a third round score of 3-over par 74. Donahoe had three birdies in the final round. Peter Eiler, playing as an individual, shot an 84 in the third round and finished with a three-round score of 236. North Texas returns to action on Feb. 24-26 at the famed TPC Sawgrass Country Club at the Sawgrass Intercollegiate in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida. |
