SB: Terry Named Player of Week, Ready For Home Tournament
DENTON, Texas (2/1113)  -- North Texas sophomore third baseman Jordan Terry was named Sun Belt Conference player of the week for her performance this past weekend, as announced by the conference office on Monday.

The recognition is the first for Terry and the first for the North Texas softball team this season. This is the first time that North Texas softball has received conference player of the week recognition following the opening weekend of play.

Terry led the Mean Green to a second-place finish at the Texas Classic with a .400 hitting percentage and five RBI. She went 4-for-10 with four runs scored, one double and five RBI. She also drew three walks, aiding her in a .571 on-base percentage. The sophomore started all five games at third base.

In wins against Memphis and Texas A&M Corpus Christi, North Texas scored runs in the first innings of both games. Terry was a part of the scoring, plating a run against the Islanders and then posting a bases-clearing double against the Tigers. In the 5-4 loss to No. 7 Texas in the championship game, Terry knocked in the first run of the ballgame to give North Texas a 1-0 lead in the first inning.

North Texas started off the season with a 3-2 record at the Texas Classic. The two losses came at the hands of No. 7 Texas. The Mean Green returns to action this weekend when it hosts the Lovelace Invitational.
